WHO APPROVES OF MAN SHARING?

Who approves?

You might be surprised.

Often wives.

Princess Diana wanted Prince Charles all to herself we've been told - though recently it's been suggested she didn't want a divorce, just to live separate lives and "partner" when needed.  Though Diana Spencer was raised in aristocracy, and must have heard that Mistresses were historically part of aristocratic living, she was a modern creature.  She wanted to be "enough."

The Prince's circle helped him have his separate life. They held entertainments in which Charles and Camilla were invited and treated as a couple, leaving Princess Diana at home or to her own life.

Camilla has been honored (!) with two Mistress of the Months here at Mistress Manifesto. To read more about her go to the archives May 2010 and April 2016.

Sometimes a wife practically throws her husband to another woman. Sometimes she gives the Ok for him to have another woman in his life and a Mistress is preferable to sleeping around.  Sometimes she chooses. Our Mistress of the month for April 2012, May Fung Yee Pang, is said to have been chosen by ex-Beatle John Lennon's wife Yoko Ono.

Some wives negotiate their marriage with their husbands, but most often they signal their approval passively by continuing the marriage. Now some wives, who have prenups, may renegotiate the terms and conditions, but please - keep this basically financial, about responsibilities. I heard of a man who expected his fiancĂ©e to sign a prenup that she agrees to have sex with him for the rest of their lives together three times a week. How horribly unrealistic and anti-romantic.

I suppose Susan "Shoe" Taylor was a "hippie.  Clearly she shared a man with his wife.  What, if anything, I wonder does she have in Common with Bob Dylan's mysterious musical muse, also considered a hippie,  Ruth Tryangiel , Mistress of the month August 2012.  Or Pamela Des Barres, the famous Groupie who started out as a hippie with flowers in her hair, who waited it out to marry her British husband, as he had to leave a marriage first. Read about Pamela in the month I devoted to Groupies, comparing them to Mistresses, in October 2016.

HETEROSEXUAL MEN! HOW MANY WIVES CAN YOU AFFORD? (AT ONE TIME!)

In some cultures the number of wives a man can have is about how many he can afford to support.

These days some men avoid marriage because they cannot afford a wife at all.

Sure, most women are working and some have careers and make more money than the men they have intimate relationships with, but while there is progress, it's still a man's world.

So men, HOW MANY WIVES CAN YOU AFFORD?
(Zero is an answer.)

BOOK REVIEW : SEXY ORIGINS and INTIMATE THINGS by CHARLES PANATI

Charles' Panati did a heck of a lot of research to write SEXY ORIGINS and INTIMATE THINGS Subtitle The Rites and Rituals of Straights, gays, Bi's, Drags, Trans, Virgins, and Others. and truly I learned a lot, including the origins of slang terms we use in speaking of sexuality to this day that have their origins a long long time ago!

WIVES as WHORES

Sex in imperial Rome was wild - for men, that is. A married man could legally have sex with female slaves, prostitutes, divorcees, and widows, but not with a virgin or wife. Strict adultery laws forbade married women from any form of extra-marital sex. The crime of adultery itself was denied as sex with a married woman, not with a married man. If an adulterous wife was caught, the punishment was forfeiture of her property and exile. Want to know the story on sexy colored shoes or slang like floozy or ditz? How about the history of condoms?

Roman wives were very clever when it came to finding a loophole in the law, Many, from well - to do - families, registered as prostitutes. Ancient Romans law clearly stated that any woman listed in the prostitute registry could not be punished for sex acts. The law had been written by men for their own pleasure, and to encourage as many women as possible to register as prostitutes. Many lustful wives took advantage of the letter of the law."

(Such women were renouncing their privleges of their rank in society!)

LADY OF THE EVENING and LADY OF THE BIG HOUSE

Some Ladies of the Evening end up being the Lady of the Big House, some Ladies of the Evening end up being the Lady of the Little House, some Ladies were never of the Evening at all, well...

Some Prostitutes can upgrade their lifestyle to being Mistresses, but more common is that a Mistress is a woman who is playing the part of Second Wife. Movies be damned, most Prostitutes have a very hard time getting out of their profession physically and psychologically well. Even if they get out of the life, most men have a very hard time coming to terms with their past.

My official attitude: STAY AWAY FROM PROSTITUTION. DON'T GET IN IT, not even as a one time deal for thousands of dollars because you are a beautiful model. If you are in it, GET OUT. This is a time when every penny you spend for a good therapist is worth it! As a prostitute it is very likely you will age quickly, loose your ability to feel from the heart, it's almost all bad news.

Honestly, you have a better chance at loving and being loved working as a maid. And Prostitutes often hate men, hate them from the start or come to hate them. The Hooker with a Heart of Gold is a rare creature. Better to be a GOLD DIGGER!

BAD GIRLS GO EVERYWHERE : HELEN GURLEY BROWN by JENNIFER SCANLON

The book in C 2009 and an Oxford University Press publication... on CAPITALIST BARTER OF SEX FOR MONEY page 170-171

"Browns loyalty to the free market extended beyond the workplace and into the far more intimate arena of sexuality. She viewed women's sexuality in the context of Capitalist exchanges, where those with the money had certain degrees of power and those without tried to negotiate as best they could. For Brown, feminism could improve women's bargaining position, but it would not ultimately take sexuality, any more than it would take 2work, outside of Capitalism's reaches. With Cosmopolitan, Brown would create, market, and further a female sexual marketplace in which both the inequities and the pleasures of a liberated sexuality within Capitalism system would become apparent and open to negotiation. She offered readers articles such as "Never Be Faithful To A Married Man," and "What If?" a piece about what sexual relationships would be like if there was no bartering system in place, "with women trying to get to the highest possible price for their wares (marriage, a continuing annuity) and men working for bargains." The acquisition of sexual freedom for women was, as far as Brown was concerned, tied to the marketplace for better or worse.

"Many critics of Cosmopolitan concluded that Brown's cavalier attitude about women trading sexual favors for dinners or nights out promoted the prostitution of women. Brown herself then fell into line with the most radical of feminists, who were considering the ways in which marriage itself mirrored prostitution. "Many a woman who is married is in a sense a prostitute," she claimed," in that she accepts presents, money, automobiles, country-club memberships, trips to Europe and the good life from a man she can barely tolerate in bed." As for women who accepted things from men they were not married to, Brown wrote, "I feel she's less of a prostitute than the married woman who hates the bed relationship." Brown refused to call her "girl" a prostitute. Her lover was simply, "making her life better," than it was. As Brown saw it, "In a way, we're all prostitute." Helen Gurley Brown's politics was steeped in political and economic understanding of sexuality. steeped in personal observations and experience, and it made many people, including many feminists, uneasy."
