ASSOCIATED PRESS NO LONGER ALLOWS THE TERM "MISTRESS"

NEWSWEEK : AP PRESS MOCKED FOR BANNING THE WORD MISTRESS

Well, my dear readers, I certainly will continue to use the word MISTRESS here at MISTRESS MANIFESTO.  I remember college and the Associated Press handbook for journalists for a class or twos.  The idea was for all journalistic publications to be on the same page with capitalization and word use.

I sure wish someone from Associated Press had read over this blog!

One radio station broadcaster I happened to hear said "What is the equivalent word for a Kept Male? Mantress?"  I've used that word here!

They don't get the point at all.

In the media, Mistress is OVERUSED to indicate anyone who is having an affair - even one night - with a celebrity.

All Mistresses are not adulterers.  Nor are all the men who Keep women (or women who Keep men or women who Keep women or men who Keep men or...) adulterers.

Nor are all Mistresses Kept in the Classic Mistress kind of way.

An excerpt from the book says:

Don't use the term mistress for a woman who is in a long-term sexual relationship with, and is financially supported by, a man who is married to someone else. Instead, use an alternative like companion, friend or lover on first reference and provide additional details later.

It's turned into a financial relationship.  A companion is a companion.  A friend is a friend.  A lover is a lover.  Basically, they are actually blurring relationship terms, though we know that there are many ways to love and that a Mistress may also be a companion, a friend, and a lover!

THE FRENCH REACT TO THE CLINTON/LEWINSKY FLING - WHO CARES?

OVERALL the FRENCH ATTITUDE about the Monica Lewinsky and President William Jefferson Clinton affair was "Who cares?"

EXCERPT from the text under this AP (Associated Press) video:

But in France, people are showing a distinct lack of concern about the Clinton scandal - and some are even wondering why a leader might lose his office over a fling. Popular feeling seems to hover between bemusement and skepticism, with the dominant feeling being that politicians should be entitled to a private life. And the French certainly do not think that concerns over a president's private life should lead to drops in world stock markets. Far away from the hyperinterest in Washington over the latest developments in the Lewinsky scandal, French people are wondering what all the fuss is about. France acknowledged its own former president Francois Mitterrand's mistress with a shrug. And the French cannot understand how Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky can destabilize his presidency and affect world economies. ...

Missy here! I can say that I WISH Americans had the same attitude because if we did MONICA LEWINSKY would not have had (or have) such a horrible time. It was so dishonorable for President William Jefferson Clinton to allow her to take the blame. In March 2012 I entitled that month GET OFF THE BACK OF MONICA LEWINSKY - Why Not Blame President Bill Clinton?< which you can find in the archives here.

CLARETTA'S DIARIES RELEASED

VERY CONTROVERSIAL !

According to this news release from Associated Press, Claretta Petacci was Benito Mussolini's "lover" from the early 1930's through their death in April 1945. She was hung by her feet after being assassinated with him. Mussolini thought Hitler was a "nice guy" and had entered Italy into the War on Germany's side.

Though we have a difficult time imagining the loyalty of women such as Claretta Petacci to men the world has come to think of as monsters, there are many women today who stay with men who are personally brutal to them or who are involved in organized crime, gangs, drug wars, or other violent situations. Does love require this kind of sacrifice or are these women mentally ill?
