HOW TO FLIRT WITH A GUY AND STAY CLASSY (IT'S NOT SO TRICKY!) : MISSY SPEAKS

Among the various videos and articles I read about flirting, this one which is by Matt Boggs, very much typifies my best attitude about flirting.

By the way, because I know you want to know, this past several months I've been flirting myself.  I finally found myself in a situation in which there are lots of men to flirt with. The men are telling jokes. The room is full of laughter.  And why not?  It's healthy.  It's healing.  Everyone is witty or trying to be, using their intelligence. The men may walk out of there into their ordinary life, but they all do so with their peacock feathers spread. My attitude is "no harm done." They feel good about themselves and so do I. They feel alive and happy as they walk out the door and so do I.  They look forward to the next time they have a good time. So do I.  It does not matter if they're in a relationship or not. Or if I am. It's all fun.

The other day four men had gravitated to my table, I looked around the room. Yes, there were other women there. For whatever reason, they were not participating in the socialization.

Now, I'm not judging those women for wanting to be alone in their thoughts or too busy with their cell phones.  Among the men there is likely one or two who would like nothing more than to be with a woman who is more quiet. I don't know what their circumstances are in their lives. Maybe, though I see no wedding bands or engagement rings, they're in committed relationships or are in grief, having lost someone they love. I just bring this up because there is definitely the space for them to join the party. I would also welcome a new, good girlfriend, someone to go places and do things with. Their behavior is communicating that they're not available, not even for friendship with another women.

You do not have to be the life of the party to engage with others. Flirting is also something you can do with your partner, someone you've made a commitment with.  If you're slogging along in a day to day relationship it may require you change your mindset. Go out on a date with your partner. Tell them when they look good or smell good.  Compliment them.  Hold hands as you walk along.  Make eye contact. Tell them you love them or that you thought about them all day...

NEED A HUSBAND OR WIFE? RECYCLE ONE

NEED A HUSBAND (OR WIFE ???)

RECYCLE ONE!
(in English & French)
(first posted July 1 2009)

This chain letter was started by a woman who wants to recycle her husband. It can work for a woman as easily as a man. But first you must be married...

Cette lettre à chaînes a été commencée par une femme qui veut réutiliser son mari. Elle peut fonctionner pour un femme aussi facilement qu'un homme. Mais d'abord vous devez être mariés…
It costs nothing - unless you have to pay for the Greyhound TM bus ticket or the TWA TM airfare ...

Il ne coûte rien - à moins que vous devez payer le billet d'autobus du TM de lévier ou les tarifs aériens de TWA TM…

Just make a list of five our your married friends who want to recycle their husbands... Then bundle up your husband and give him his walking papers and a suitcase you have personally packed for him... Send him to the woman on the top of your list. Then add your name to the bottom of the list and send a copy to five women.

WHEN YOUR NAME COMES TO THE TOP OF THE LIST, YOU WILL RECEIVE 17,000 HUSBANDS!

QUAND VOTRE NOM VIENT JUSQU'AU DESSUS DE LA LISTE, VOUS RECEVREZ 17.000 MARIS !

THE APARTMENT : A 1960's COMEDY : MISTRESS MANIFESTO FILM REVIEW

1960 wasn't the Swinging Sixties yet and subject matter such as this,
which could have been considered offensive to society
which was far more religious than ours,
 was made into comedy.

All these years later, I think of this film as having social commentary embedded in it. There is sexism and there is classism and well... What will you think once you've seen it? Maybe relax and find it fun, relate to it, or simply realize this kind of situation still happens. Only now, we have the MeToo Movement.

Shirley MacLaine is one of my favorite actresses* and someone who lived an unconventional life. After marrying and having a daughter, her husband and daughter moved to Japan. Theirs was a long distance and alternative relationship. She sent money. Focusing on her career, aware that despite her talent and hard work she was lucky to have one, MacLaine's autobiographical works (books), several which I've read, reveal that she was free to have other relationships and did have them. Be it through negotiation or just how it worked out, her marriage was an Open one. (Back in the day her marriage would have been considered one in which there was a "role reversal")

In The Apartment, Shirley MacLaine acts as Fran Kubelik, an young and pretty elevator operator who only has access to the executives at a company because they ride the elevator. Her ethnic surname suggests that this job is the best she can do (circa 1960). Though in a lowly position, she is hopeful and open-minded for love. She's a respectable girl who seems not to accept dates out of some sense of professionalism or wisdom but how long can that last?

Mister Sheldrake, the Big Boss, played by Fred MacMurray, has his afternoons to entertain.  He and other characters at the office are using an underlings apartment to have afternoon sex, excessively.  The underling, C.C. Baxter, played by Jack Lemmon, can't say no. He needs recognition and advancement in his career. The neighbors can hear all that sex through the walls and think it's Baxter - very busy.

Who will seduce Fran?

BERNIE : MISTRESS MANIFESTO FILM REVIEW

Bernie Poster

Billed as a comedy, this film will appeal to your dark sense of humor.  It's starring Jack Black as Bernie Tiedi and Shirley Maclaine as Marjorie Nugent, the murder victim, as  well as Matthew McConaughey as Buck Davidson, the local prosecutor who takes the murder trial to another county because Bernie is too well loved in Carthage, Texas.  I loved the testimonials of gossipy townspeople throughout.

DO MORE DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS KEEP MISTRESSES?

QUESTION FOR MISSY

Hi Missy, with the election coming, I was just wondering if more Democrats or more Republicans keep mistresses?

Rod

ANSWER FROM MISSY

Republicans.

A number of POLITICAL MISTRESSES - Mistresses of Politicians - profiled here were women who worked for the men they were Mistress to.

CHECK THESE OUT IN MY ARCHIVE!
Rielle Hunter - and John Edwards  June 2012
Carrie Phillips - and Warren Harding  November 2012
Elizabeth Ray - and Wayne L. Hays  November 2016
Sally Hemmings - and Thomas Jefferson  July 2018
Missy Lehand - and Franklin D. Roosevelt October 2019

REPUBLICANS HAVE MORE MONEY.  They may simply be sneakier, have more cooperative wives, or pay off their mistresses when they are done with the relationship... and my guess is since they have more money, their Mistresses get more spoiling!

Speculation!

LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU

According to the poster of this YouTube video, this is a very tame version of Gypsy Rose Lee's strip routine. Her high brown attitude and voice is interesting to me. At heart she was a literary person. She has a book in her.

IN HER 50's... ALWAYS KNOWN FOR HER SEXY QUIPS

Mae West's sense of humor and sexiness defied censors.

She joked:

"Look your best.  Who said love is blind?"

"Between two evils I always like to try the one I've never tried before."

"Marriage is a great institution but I'm not ready for an institution."

THE STATELY HOMES OF ENGLAND : NOEL COWARD

Video replaced September 2022

The FUNNY lyrics of this song are so telling of the time period and attitude.

"We only keep them up for Americans to rent!"
