2011 APRIL  was ? MISTRESS ? OF THE MONTH JERRY HALL

The news came from Daily Mail -UK in the last few weeks that Australian media baron and billionaire Rupert Murdock sent "Tall Tales" author, Jerry Hall, his wife since 2016, an e-mail to inform her that the marriage was over and that she should only contact him through his lawyer. (I read that report on July 1, 2020, as well as other earlier reports.) 

No gentleman would ever break with a woman he is married to, engaged to, going steady with, or having sex with using e-mail, texting, or any electronic resource.  

IF YOU CAN'T BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO FACE SOMEONE YOU'VE BEEN THAT CLOSE WITH, then I have no respect for you. 

Jerry is a favorite here at Mistress Manifesto BlogSpot because of her rise from a little Texas town, where she was raised in a working class family and, believe it or not, has a twin sister. She went to Europe and was discovered on a beach, wearing clothes she and her mom sewed at home, went into modeling, attracted the attention of more than one rock star, and lived for years as the Rolling Stone's lead singer, Mick Jagger's mistress. She is a naturally beautiful woman but she spread her wings into acting and has not completely shut down her career for men, even with four children to raise.  

The question marks in the title were because he married her - sort of - eventually - but then when they split he declared the marriage invalid, as if he had fooled her into thinking they were married. While Jerry may have wanted marriage sooner, Jagger was incapable of being faithful. He had women and children before and after Jerry,  and during their relationship.  She hung in there and had four children with him. The same publication, Daily Mail Online, reported he was not so happy that she had married Murdock.

So, I, and well, lots of people were really rooting for Jerry that she had found a man who would give her what she wanted and needed and deserved.  Reportedly Jerry has dealt with Jagger and his children from other relationships in such an adult and mature way, we have to be impressed. It would seem she is capable of that, yet reports are that Murdock's children may have been the problem.

PRINCE ALBERT II OF MONACO TAKES MISTRESS NICOLE COSTE TO THE RED CROSS BALL

Nicole Coste was our Mistress of the Month in September 2010 here at Mistress Manifesto BlogSpot because of her long relationship with Prince Albert II of Monaco, who met her when she was an flight attendant in first class. Now, all these years later, it is clear that she and their son have continued to be in Albert's life in some way although it seems they have been living discreetly enough to barely make the papers.

THE GRIMALDI CURSE and THE MISTRESSES OF THE PRINCES OF MONACO was the subject in January 2015.

Though the Grimaldis are the royal family with the longest duration in Europe, it seems none of the children of Ranier and actress Grace Kelly have had an easy time of it romantically. Albert II was a long time bachelor who had the reputation of being a womanizer. He is currently being accused of fathering a third love child, having been forced to recognize two children through DNA testing before, including the son of Nicole. If it turns out to be true, he would have fathered this third child while dating Charlene.

For several months now there has been speculation that Albert's wife, Princess Charlene, the mother of their twins, whose son will take the throne after Albert, has absconded to South Africa to get away from him - and Monaco - and is only using her work saving the rhinos or trouble with her sinuses to stay away. Perhaps they are actually in a trial separation or she is taking time out to find herself or decide if she wants to stay married to him.

What I've heard is that Albert wanted to marry Nicole, but his father refused to allow him to do so. The Red Cross Ball in Monaco is perhaps the biggest event the small country hosts. It is a fund raiser.  While through the years in his bachelorhood Albert has had one of his siblings attend events with him, allowing Nicole to the ball has to be a statement. He has provided heirs to the throne, his parents are no longer alive to tell him what to do, and though we may feel for Charlene, as a man he has the right to be happy.  If for years now Nicole has endured some social estrangement over her relationship with Albert, to me what Albert is announcing is that Nicole is to be accepted.

Together Nicole and Albert have a son who has just celebrated his eighteenth birthday.

BILL GATES, MELINDA GATES, and ANN WINBLAD ARE (PROBABLY) NOT A LOVE TRIANGLE : OPINION BY MISSY and MISSY ASKS YOU!

The announcement that Bill Gates and his wife Melinda French Gates are calling it quits after 27 years of marriage, three grown children, billions earned and much of it given to charity and good causes - including development of a Covid-19 vaccine, is being reported internationally. Apparently, Bill once dated Ann Winblad for seven years but ended the relationship when he met Melinda. Ann was given the respect of approving of the marriage - or at least giving a strong opinion. I know that's a bit like Camilla Parker Bowles approving of Diana Spencer as a wife for Prince Charles. Ann is also married.

As reporters hunt down "the other woman" who (probably) doesn't exist, though a billionaire like Bill Gates and a billionaire like Melinda French Gates are certainly going to be confettied with persons of interest, the reveal is that for years Bill and Ann spend one weekend a year together at a beach house in North Carolina.

I thought this was terrific. You can bet it was negotiated with Melinda as well as Ann and Ann's husband. Obviously Ann and Bill decided they valued a long friendship and wanted to keep it and did despite many years full of changes. Out of 56 weekends in a year, Ann got one, but it was enough. If Ann were a male best friend very likely Bill could more easily spend a weekend or a whole wifeless vacation week with him, without scrutiny or anyone calling the place they stayed a "love nest." The old friends do a lot of catching up during that weekend.

It seems to me that Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates also have negotiated a friendship, one that includes continuing the philanthropic work of their Foundation. They are also keenly aware that due to their wealth their lives are lived on the world stage and it wouldn't surprise me that the announcement and all else has already been planned. If there is anything that broke them up, busyness is probably to blame. 

The reporters know they have a Big Story but are some of them desperate enough to make stories up out of little evidence? I picked this story up on a publication that I read called Daily Mail (i.e. Daily Mail UK or Daily Mail Online). During Covid-19 lockdown, I found myself reading it way too much. I realized that many an article in this publication is based on speculation or "Royal Experts," many who have written books that have gained them the "Expert" title. However, their opinions are touted as Journalism, and Journalism is based on facts - OK research - interviews - fact finding. If you read the publication enough, you soon realize that there are many conflicting opinions about Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle AKA The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as an example. That is what makes the publication, one of the most popular in the world, a tabloid rather than a 'hard news" venue. 

However, maybe no one but Bill and Ann know if their weekends are part of a SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR relationship. By bringing this up, I do not intend to imply it is. Same Time Next Year was a play I once saw at a straw hat theatre that was made into a movie in the 1970's. In it, two people who had an affair agree to meet each year. She tells her husband she goes to a religious retreat. It's fascinating because they are devoted to their spouses and have no intention of divorce but the personal changes each goes through all those years shows them in distinctly different places in life. His wife dies first.

While one article in the Daily Mail called what Bill and Melinda and Ann have an "odd arrangement" I have to wonder how many people just wish they could have one just like this with someone of the opposite sex with whom they have a valued relationship.

This law suit could be interesting and may help define extramarital relationships and any economic value they may have.  (Use the search feature on the side bar of this Google Blogger to search for PALIMONY and Michelle Triola Marvin!)   However, my feeling is that while there may be a Breach of Promise involved, Ms. Corsell is unlikely to win the award she is seeking. 

 

Married persons promising to leave their spouses and then NOT - nothing new.  Certainly all those who paid ahead for wedding gowns, halls, and ministers, whose fiancée's decided not to marry them could sue too.  But SHOULD THEY?  I believe that the American public (the lawsuit takes place in New York City) from which the jury will be pulled will think,"You knew he was married and you didn't care and now you want money?" 

But I could be wrong because, if you read Mistress Manifesto BlogSpot, you know that DEFINING "Mistress" is increasingly difficult in a time when so many couples live together without marriage, when so many men and women have children with multiple others, and  people who did not seem to want or seek "marriage equality" are trying for it.  There are just so many ways to have relationships, most importantly love.

 

Putting VALUE for SERVICES - for companionship and/or sex - is edging towards prostitution and - this is a feminist value - certainly being a wife and mother traditionally caring for the home, raising the children, and not going out into the workplace as the income earner also has VALUE, a value no one is really willing to put a price tag on, though some people do HIRE others to take care of childcare, cleaning the house, and all else that traditional wives and mother's do.

I recall a friend of mine from some years back who was the pampered and spoiled only daughter in a family of many boys.  She was very pretty and sought out for dates.  While her brothers had to scramble for cars and all else, she was given them.  At 28 years old this friend of mine still talked baby talk to her father.  She didn't know how to cook - not even a burger.  She didn't know that childbirth hurts.  (Really!)  She believed that it was easy for a woman to get her figure back after pregnancy.  She believed a woman should never make more money than her husband.  She believed that abortion was sin, no matter how a woman got pregnant, even gang rape.  She had a big beautiful expensive wedding that cost more than her college education and a substantial down payment on a house, all from her wealthy grandparent.  She was caught up in the romance and excitement of this all, but seemed unrealistic about what her life would be after the wedding.  Still, none of us who were a bit wiser wanted to ruin it for her by telling her so, because, well, MAYBE it would turn out for her as she dreamed.

The man she did marry had an stable but average income.   They were in shock about paying their bills and having money left to eat hot dogs.  Last I heard she was a stay at home wife and mom of seven children.  I think about how stupid her parents were the way they kept her from reality while they told her to "marry to her station in life" which was a fairly inflated idea of who and what all they were.  I wonder if on a difficult day with the children if she is perfectly groomed and ready to wait on her husband when he comes home from another hard day at work or if she's as frazzled as most women would be.  Strong traditional values are in place here and it's unlikely she or her husband would ever cheat, but you never know. Other of my friends who married for the right reasons have.

The ASHLEY MADISON hacking scandal has me rather distracted.  In the past in this blog I have both expressed doubts about online dating (having never met anyone who actually had a relationship with anyone they met on line) and alerted the world to the fact that Mistress Manifesto BlogSpot is NOT related to this or any other web site.

So, what do I really think?  Are there really 37 million plus "cheaters" signed up with Ashley Madison? Are these members mostly looking at pictures and having fantasies but not doing much of anything about having an affair?  I was surprised to learn that the fee to join is substantial, beyond affordable for most people who are NOT sincere in their quest to find someone "on the side" and it made me wonder if traditional marriage is for the minority.

Well, if I were the wife of a husband who secretly signed up for Ashley Madison I would be concerned, but I wouldn't automatically think it went further than the fantasy.   (Check out my past post on the Rabbi who suggests that a married couple needs to have a fantasy between them that they are cheating on each other.)  I would be more concerned if I found myself tied up with a sex addict or porn addict than I would be a man who has fantasies.

It's said that Benito Mussolini, the dictator, had many mistresses. At the time of his death, his mistress was Clara Petacci, who was raised in an upper class Roman home where he father was the personal doctor to the Pope. Mussolini was much older than she - twenty eight years - and together they died on April 28, 1945 when she was 32.

R.J.B. Bosworth says Claretta assured Mussolini he was as great as Napoleon. Bosworth is the author of a book called "Claretta: Mussolini's Last Lover" in which he extensively used her diaries and family correspondences to learn how it was that it was she who came to be hung along with him.
