2011 APRIL  was ? MISTRESS ? OF THE MONTH JERRY HALL

The news came from Daily Mail -UK in the last few weeks that Australian media baron and billionaire Rupert Murdock sent "Tall Tales" author, Jerry Hall, his wife since 2016, an e-mail to inform her that the marriage was over and that she should only contact him through his lawyer. (I read that report on July 1, 2020, as well as other earlier reports.) 

No gentleman would ever break with a woman he is married to, engaged to, going steady with, or having sex with using e-mail, texting, or any electronic resource.  

IF YOU CAN'T BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO FACE SOMEONE YOU'VE BEEN THAT CLOSE WITH, then I have no respect for you. 

Jerry is a favorite here at Mistress Manifesto BlogSpot because of her rise from a little Texas town, where she was raised in a working class family and, believe it or not, has a twin sister. She went to Europe and was discovered on a beach, wearing clothes she and her mom sewed at home, went into modeling, attracted the attention of more than one rock star, and lived for years as the Rolling Stone's lead singer, Mick Jagger's mistress. She is a naturally beautiful woman but she spread her wings into acting and has not completely shut down her career for men, even with four children to raise.  

The question marks in the title were because he married her - sort of - eventually - but then when they split he declared the marriage invalid, as if he had fooled her into thinking they were married. While Jerry may have wanted marriage sooner, Jagger was incapable of being faithful. He had women and children before and after Jerry,  and during their relationship.  She hung in there and had four children with him. The same publication, Daily Mail Online, reported he was not so happy that she had married Murdock.

So, I, and well, lots of people were really rooting for Jerry that she had found a man who would give her what she wanted and needed and deserved.  Reportedly Jerry has dealt with Jagger and his children from other relationships in such an adult and mature way, we have to be impressed. It would seem she is capable of that, yet reports are that Murdock's children may have been the problem.

If you use the search feature embedded in this blog and put in her name, you'll see that Jerry was an honorary Mistress of the Month back in April of 2011 and has been mentioned since.

MODELS OF INFLUENCE - 50 WOMEN WHO RESET THE COURSE OF FASHION by NIGEL BARKER.  (Can you identify the models on the cover photo?)  There are do many good pictures of the models in the book, but it's a wonder the editors could even choose which photos to feature!  Author Nigel Barker features a series of mini bios capturing the essence of each model and her contribution to the evolution of fashion, or perhaps that's fashion photography!

This book names fifty models who as the subtitle says, "reset the course of fashion," and you may be surprised when you read it that you know so many names and faces.  Is beauty a requirement?  Well, no!  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Presence - something that captivates others - is more important!

Some of these woman are of personal fascination to me, so I'll name them! 

DORIAN LEIGH started modeling at the old age of 27 and had already lived a "full" life, married with children unhappily, and some say her whole life was tormented.  She was able to emote so many emotions silently.  She was modeling from about 1944 on and worked nonstop, never shunning lingerie in those days way before Victoria's Secret, when to do so was considered slumming.

BETTINA GRAZIANI, who was our Mistress of the Month in June of 2015, also makes the list and I'm going to do a little "update" on her start page excerpting from this book!  JERRY HALL, who was out Mistress of the Month in April 2011, also makes this list; did you know she was discovered when wearing a hot pink crocheted bikini?

DOVIMA; you must have seen the classic photo of her in a sleek evening gown and long while gloves with the two elephants.

CARMEN DELL 'OREFICE is a woman with almost prenatural beauty because she managed to keep it though into her natural gray hair.  She admits that she worked more in her old age than she did in her 1950's modeling days, and considers herself "still a work in progress," when modeling at age 82!

LINDA EVANGELISTA, who according to this book never wanted to do anything else but model and never has, "no skin care lines, no acting, no television shows, no tell-all books..." (page 27 of 125 on the e-book.)

STEPHANIE SEYMOUR, who went to Europe and where "two auspicious relationships mixing business and pleasure would change the course of her life.  First in Paris, at just 16 years old she started seeing Elite's owner John Casablancas who was tw3ice her age and married... (page 82 of 175 of the e-book.)

CLAUDIA SCHIFFER, who has done over 1000 magazine covers, with a bit of a resemblance to Bridget Bardot.

KATE MOSS, who is credited for "taking the snobbishness out of fashion," and is known for keeping her own counsel - despite her high living.

I could go on, because this book does include some of the latest, youngest models who are making their careers hot right now...

FAMOUS ROCK STARS often have mistresses. In the past here at MISTRESS MANIFESTO I've covered RUTH TRIANGIEL, Bob Dylan's mysterious muse and mistress who sued and won, and JERRY HALL, the mistress of sexaholic and cheap skate Mick Jagger, who accept a measly amount of money after a split we can't call a divorce because her marriage to Mick was declared invalid.  (Great news her marriage to Rupert!)  I've also covered the mistress of John Lennon, selected by his wife, Yoko, MAY PANG - who was left unemployed and with no good bye money at all.

APRIL 2011  JERRY HALL was our MISTRESS ? OF THE MONTH.

Jerry Hall was a top model before she entered into a 20-22 year relationship with Rolling Stone lead singer, the sexaholic Mick Jagger, and she wanted to be married to him, but Mick and she had a wedding that he got away with claiming as invalid.  The couple had four children, the youngest now 18 years old, and in my opinion Mick was very cheap with her considering his vast wealth when they split.  Turns out that the house she has lived in since must be returned to Mick if she marries again.

So move on out Jerry, because media mogel Rupert Murdock makes Mick's wealth look like that of a newspaper stand operator.  (And we all know that Jerry is not greedy.) I read the news in DAILYMAIL uk, and there are many other media covering the news, some snidely, but I say MORE POWER TO YA Jerry.

Those of you reading this, don't be so sure you know what's behind the relationship.  The announcement in the Times listed the names of all their children, and you see, the first thing they have in common is a whole lotta offspring.  Secondly, Jerry makes for an attractive and fun companion. 

L'WREN SCOTT LESSONS ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING : OPINION BY MISSY

Back in April of 2011 I elected JERRY HALL as ? Mistress? of the Month. Jerry is known as the woman who had FOUR children with Mick Jagger.  She wanted to marry him for years and he finally married her, but when they "divorced" the marriage was "annulled."  (I have to ask how so!)   Worth at least $300 million (the reports vary)  Jerry called him "very generous" over a settlement of about $7 million!  (Too bad they didn't have a legal marriage in California - a community property state!)

I also posted about L'WREN SCOTT, who was Mick Jagger's lady for about a decade at that point, and who became his long term "best friend and lover" as he calls her.   She died owing about $6 million and Mick is said to have financed her fashion business for years.

The news that L'Wren Scott commit suicide on this first day of spring, when I should be enjoying the  uplifting weather, has me thinking about her and feeling rather down myself. 

L'Wren was an accomplished stylist to the stars and fashion designer who had been legally married to lesser millionaires than the Rolling Stone's singer twice before.  Reports on the Internet are numerous and mostly repetitive, some suggesting that her business had failed and that she was depressed over remaining unmarried and childless and perhaps not being invited on the Rolling Stone's tour of Australia and New Zealand with their large entourage.

One of the reports that touched me the most was that the actress Ellen Barkin, a good friend of L'Wren's, was one of the people who went and sat with L'Wren's dead body until she was taken away.  And I keep thinking, when I hear L'Wren tied her neck by a scarf to a door handle and knelt, is how that worked.  L'Wren was six foot three or four without the high heels, but I don't get how you kneel and hang!

The act of suicide by one so physically healthy, beautiful, talented, and barely old, is so difficult to understand.  Mick Jagger had two previous girlfriends, in the 1960's, who were also so depressed when he broke with them to have attempted it, Chrissie and Marianne.

But if I may, there are lessons to be learned by L'Wren Scott's life...

First of all, if you are feeling depressed and isolating yourself, be it over a man, a career, a whole bunch of things or just one damn thing, there is so much help out there for you!  In recent years it's been said that one woman in four will go through a serious bout of depression in her lifetime.  Yes, there are meds and maybe you'll only need them as you talk things out, make some decisions, and go through a rough transition. 

Don't be TOO PROUD to get that help! 

Secondly, I think L'Wren was in the position of being a mistress, not one hidden away, but a mistress, when she wanted to be a wife.  IF YOU WANT TO BE A WIFE, IF YOU WANT LEGAL MARRIAGE, don't get yourself hung up in a relationship with a man who is NOT EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE FOR MARRIAGE.  This can be because he is married, because he is adverse to marriage, because he is not ready to be married to anyone, or because he doesn't want to marry you!  (You could almost say that you can't take that personally!)

If your man sleeps around he's putting you in danger.  He can bring home diseases that will wreck your fertility and chances of having children.  I have always heard that Mick Jagger is a sex addict.  I've heard this from people who say they were close to the camp.   I don't know what to think since the man is now 70 and you might think he started slowing down long ago.  But whatever your marital status, when you go to the gyne, get checked for everything, and go often if you or your lover have others.  (Men should also be checked for STD's frequently!)

If you are thinking of suicide - thinking about pills, guns, scarves, nooses, or elevators to the top of a skyscraper, believe me, you probably are at least temporarily mentally ill. You may be in such pain that you can't think of others any more but believe it, if you kill yourself, you will HURT other people.  

So do you want to HURT THEM or BE OUT OF PAIN YOURSELF?  How about you get well, get out of bad relationships?

Your children especially are owed more. You will leave them abandoned and wondering and you'll leave a legacy for your children to cope with.  So with that last bit of hope you can spare, for them, you must get help.

DON'T LIE TO YOURSELF.  Admitting your weaknesses is as important as admitting your strengths.  Don't get sucked into the denial of "positive thinking" about yourself, your life.  Speak up when you want more or different!  L'Wren is said to have wanted marriage and children but felt that she would loose Mick if she brought it up.  Why is it that so many very accomplished women are AFRAID to tell a man what they want in general or what they want with him when they are giving so much of themselves and their lives to him?

If you've been in a relationship that has been long enough to have a history, sentimentality, ageing, finances, and so much more can KEEP YOU THERE, keep you from leaving.  I'm sure L'Wren felt overwhelmed with failure, as if nothing was going her way, but even if that were so,  her sense of not being valuable on this planet just as a human is heart breaking.*

Note: March 24 - 27 2014 : I have slightly rewritten the original post because when I read it on someone else's computer, I realized it might have been a little confusing.  Tomorrow is L'Wren's funeral in Hollywood.  She was cremated and her ashes split between the Jagger Family and her Utah family.  I do not condemn her to hell eternal for the act of suicide, and I hope she is there in her spirit.  I even feel sorry for Mick Jagger.

JERRY HALL, the Supermodel; She still looks great in her 50s and that's no accident. She takes care of herself. She is now best known as a mom and artist's muse.

Jerry made lots of her own money, and plenty of other men have been and are interested, but as we know, it was the rock group The Rolling Stone's singer Mick Jagger, who was her primary love interest for so very many years.

Jerry Hall was engaged to another rock star when they met but Mick helped her break her engagement with an aggressive pursuit - loads of flowers - more. Eventually Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger married ... and eventually they divorced ... except Mick claimed the marriage wasn't valid after all.

What a stinker!

Along the way Jerry and Mick had four children together. Mick married and didn't marry other women and had children with other women, before, during, and after Jerry.

Jerry may have WORKED THE HARDEST of all of them AT KEEPING MICK! (She even wrote a book about her life and their romance.) To work hard like that - very mistressy!

Mick's other women and mistresses? Some were for a night, some for months or years, some had children, some did not...

You could say that Mick is not someone who most women would marry. He is more a MISTER.

Sometimes it's not easy to know who is a mistress and who isn't, especially in a time and place where marriage is not necessary to have children. But I believe Jerry, all those years she wasn't married to him, was Mick's mistress.

Being an excellent mother doesn't mean a woman was not a mistress. Consider history. Having children - being maternal - didn't stop Kings from thinking of their women as mistresses or not being able to or refusing to marry them. Being a mistress didn't stop the woman from being KNOWN to be important in a man's life. Having her own money (and more because of her relationship with a multi-millionaire) doesn't mean that Jerry didn't significantly benefit from being dedicated to Mick. She sent bills to his office, traveled with him, stayed in exclusive resorts and his homes, and he bought her at least one house. And they will always be connected by their children.

Somewhere along the line Jerry Hall had to come to terms with herself and she decided she could not do too much better. At least not then. Now?
