THE ISSUE OF CHILDREN : SHOULD YOU BE A MISTRESS? : OPINION BY MISSY

A question a woman should ask herself, and ask yourself this every few months while you still can, is DO I WANT CHILDREN?  If so HOW MANY?

I was reading an interview that Kris Jenner "Momager" to the daughters who have all become rich over reality TV, endorsement, speaking engagements, commercials, and products they are associated with and own.  She says she always knew she wanted many children.

Kris is a modern woman and she had to know that she would need a well-to-do husband to afford having many children.  Luckily she married lawyer and businessman Robert Kardashian and he could afford having many children.  Then she married Bruce Jenner, the superb athlete, who also gave her children, as well as giving another woman children and he also could afford to do so.  None of these people seemed to be interested in limiting their family to one or two children, which is the fashionable choice (I think because children are barely affordable by most people.) There is a lot of pressure on women to have children as what is "normal" womanhood but there is also a lot of pressure in society to limit a family for ecological means.

A Mistress may have a relationship with a man who has enough money to afford children, or more children, but he may not want a second family because having children makes it more difficult to keep the relationship a secret and implies life-long connection.

Some of the mistresses I've covered here at MISTRESS MANIFESTO BLOGSPOT, have had extramarital children with the men who Kept them, such as BRUNA PALOMBA (Mistress of the Month August 2017) who had one daughter and  Gordon Getty's Mistress CYNTHIA BECK Mistress of the Month February 2019 who had daughters. I admire the responsibility shown to these children by their fathers.  (A longer list of Mistresses who had children is below.)

A woman should be using contraception until she is ready, willing, and able to be a mother.  If she is not independently rich herself, she especially should be considering whether her partner is also ready, willing, and able to be a father.  It means discussion.

Yet, though contraception (and abortion) has allowed Western women to have more choice, contraception has been known to fail or a particular contraception is medically ill advised and sometimes a woman just finds herself unexpectedly pregnant. When a woman wants to have a child and her man insists on an abortion or puts her in a position where she knows she will be stranded and alone trying to raise a child she personally cannot afford there is a lot of pressure on her to choose his way.  (And I tire of hearing women blamed as if the men where not there.)

Yet, and I think this also has to do with money, if a woman is a Mistress and the man loves her and can afford to, he sometimes feels that he ought to allow her to go forward and have their child.  He feels he should not rob her of the experience of having and raising a child and if he is much older he often sees that with a child she may not be alone in her own old age (though having a child does not guarantee they will care for a parent.)

If you are a young woman and you want a child or children, seriously communicate this with any man you get involved with.  If a man wants to Keep you he especially needs to hear this.  You need to keep your independence and find a way to support yourself so that you can leave him if you feel you are loosing years of your life in wait for him to change his mind about having a child with you or maybe leaving his other relationships, etc.  You should be out there meeting people and dating, not staying in a relationship that will not bring you happiness since having children is one of the things that would make you happy.

Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart Birley Goldsmith (The last two surnames are her married names.)  Jimmy Goldsmith stole her from her husband, a busy restaurant and club owner, and she let him.  Annabel had a child with Jimmy while married to Birley, and had more children with Goldsmith later.  Her daughter by this liaison, a friend of Princess Diana, has publicly thanked her for having her.

September 2010
Nicole Coste, Mistress of Prince Albert II of Monaco and Mother of his first son. Since they never married this son cannot take the throne of Monaco but back in the day before he was married to the present Princess who has had twins, reports were that Albert took an interest in his son with Nicole.  Now this old relationship seems to be kept out of the media.

May 2011
Karin Stanford, College Professor who had a child with Reverend Jesse Jackson. Both Karin and Jesse have barely been in the media for years.

November 2011
Madeleine Duncan Brown, Mistress and Secrets Keeper of Lyndon Baines Johnson (President of the United States) and Mother of their son.
My understanding is that the son did not live long enough to be there for her in her old age.

July 2013
Marion Davies, Mistress of William Randolph Heart and His California Castle.  A woman named Patricia who was raised by Marion's sister said she was told upon her wedding by Marion that Hearst was her real father.  She looked like him. She died a while back and there was a claim against the estate by her grandchildren.  This story also seems to have disappeared from the media.

May 2015 -
Marita Lorenz, Mistress of Fidel Castro and General Marcos Peres Jimenes turned CIA collaborator. I once got a message from someone saying she was Marita's daughter and that a film was being made about her mother's life.

CYNTHIA BECK'S MALIBU PROPERTY RAIDED FOR AMMUNITION - MISTRESS MANIFESTO GETS THOUSANDS OF HITS

I saw the article, I believe in the Daily Mail OnLine, that a property owned by CYNTHIA BECK, ex mistress of a GORDON GETTY and mother of his three daughters, had been raided and a huge catch of guns were found.

The property was not exactly abandoned, but the article I read did not figure her into this.

To my shock, when I checked on MISTRESS MANIFESTO BLOGSPOT this morning, I learned that my start page on Cynthia, who was MISTRESS OF THE MONTH here in January 2019, had received 6000 hits.

I don't research or write for or live for statistics.  In fact there have been times when I reported to Google my sense that this blog was being dinged in certain ways and Google looked into it and seems to have blocked the offending party(ies).  I feel that this months Mistress of the Month, KOLA BOOF and all my select Kept Women and Men deserve as much interest. 

Since you can find these articles, I'm not going to link to any.

My sense is that CYNTHIA and her daughters might not even be living in the United States any more.  They were recognized as Gordon Getty's children by him and due to the connection to vast wealth, I believe they may have been harrassed, but be it the unoccupied homes I live near that are broken into and used to be lived in, or Beck's homes, quite possibly all this has happened without her knowledge.  I hope so.

ARE YOU A MAN WHO KEEPS A WOMAN? MISSY ASKS YOU!

Though I like to include some Kept Men, when I can find out about them, MISTRESS MANIFESTO BlogSpot tends towards women - Kept Women - women who want to be Kept - and though I know Lesbian Women are Keeping other Women, I and my readers are curious to know more about the MEN WHO KEEP WOMEN?

They are not all billionaires (or even millionaires) like J.Paul Getty, or his son Gordon Getty.

My guess is that there are a lot of women who work full time but who have their income supplemented by men they are involved with, without living together, be it that he is married or not.

The subject is obscured by privacy, by secrecy, and by romanticized or other inaccurate depictions of Mistress' lives.

An eternal question seems to be, Men who Keep Women, HOW DO YOU DO IT?

Is it a verbal agreement or legal?
If you're married, does your wife know?

It was 1999 when the three daughters of Cynthia Beck, who'd been fathered by billionaire, composer, and Getty heir, Gordon Getty, decided they wanted the Getty surname and went to court in Los Angeles to do so.  Then the "secret" was published in papers around the world.  It was official.  Gordon Getty had two families.  One in San Francisco with his wife, another in Los Angeles with his Mistress.  Very little has been published about them since. As I expected. Other than that Ms. Beck had been at one point concerned with her privacy being invaded at her house in a wonderful community in Los Angeles County.

Among the American Aristocracy it was said, Gordon Getty's second family was considered to be an "open secret," but who knew really how much his wife and children based in San Francisco knew or when.  If they did they weren't talking to the press. 
And so we know only a little more about Cynthia Beck than we do Bob Dylan's mistress, Ruth Triangiel, who said in her bid for money from Bob that the only thing Bob ever gave her as a present in the years they were in a relationship was an orange.

Blamed on a midlife crisis by some, or his wife's traveling that gave Gordon Getty a lot of time to be with another woman by others, Ann Getty, his wife of 30 years at that point, acted with dignity, preserved her marriage, and Gordon wasn't seeking a divorce.  And that is the way it is most often played out in the highest of society.

The father of four sons by Ann and three daughters by Cynthia, Gordon Getty has never been accused of having his father's cheap gene  Gordon Getty's personal fortune was estimated to be about $2 billion at that point, making him in the top 50 of wealthiest people in the United States. The "cheap skate" gene attributed to his father, J. Paul Getty, whose personal art collections founded the Getty Museums in Malibu and on the mountain just up from the Sepulveda Pass on the West Side of Los Angeles, and who once refused to pay ransom for a kidnapped grandson, hadn't trickled down to Gordon.

In multiple repetitive news articles circa 1999,  Gordon Getty was quoted from released a statement saying, “Nicolette, Kendalle and Alexandra are my children. Their mother is Cynthia Beck, and I love them very much.” 
The three daughters were granted the surname change they wanted.  He and Cynthia had been together fourteen years.   He visited the children frequently.  Basically, it was as if he simply could not take a second wife and keep them both at the same time because that's illegal.

While some media reported high society was "shocked," some of high society reported that Cynthia was a lovely woman.  Others in high society scoffed at the idea of being shocked by an open secret.  Shock was for the middle class.

Gordon Getty is at heart a musician and artist, said to be more inclined to hear music in his head than to pay attention to business.  Legal wranglings are an important part of the book I based much of my information on last month, "The House of Getty," and in it one important point was that Gordon was seemingly oblivious that board members were out to dismiss him since his business resume isn't impressive.  It didn't help him personally when he was outed in 1981 by Forbes Magazine at the top of the World's Richest list.

Last month in covering the Mistresses (some who became wives) of J. Paul Getty, I covered Ann Rork, Gordon's mom.  She had two sons by Paul, and Gordon and his brother saw more of their dad than the others.  In 1964 Gordon married Ann Gilbert when he was 31 and she was 23.  They had four sons and as a family went to Sutton Place in England to visit with Paul.  When his father died in 1976 Gordon became a millionaire over night, but only because he got a third of the Sarah C. Getty Trust, providing about 11 million a year.  Ann, a Republican, while Gordon is a Democrat, rose to become a society hostess in San Francisco, on best dressed lists and the cover of Town and Country Magazine, driving a Porsche, while Gordon seemed to avoid the events she loved.  Ann played hostess to celebrities and royals.  In 1982 Gordon became solely in charge of one of the most immense family fortune's due to the Sarah C. Getty Trust.  While his father J. Paul had many Mistresses, Gordon seems to have allowed himself just one, perhaps a woman less interested in being in society than his wife Ann.

I'm not the first to say it: the Rich are Different.
And I'm not the first to ask this: Are Cynthia and Gordon still together as a couple?
