DECLARATION FOR MISTRESSES : Sleep

"I need my sleep.  If it means changing my lifestyle to get enough deep and restful sleep I'll do it."

Sleep deprivation hurts your health.  It hurts your life.  And it's extremely common.  Many of us run on empty and end up ill.  You need your zzzz's to cope with stress but when stress wins it can keep you up.  How many hours of sleep are you getting?  How many hours do you need?  Some can function on 6, others need 9.  Meditation or other forms of deep relaxation may help you cope and actually lessen the hours you need to sleep. Go to bed earlier or get up later. Try for just one more hour.

Could it be that you're exposed to too much light?  (Your body needs the darkness to make natural melatonin.)

Could it be that you watch films or listen to news or read things that are upsetting?

Are the problems you face in life keeping you up?  Is it possible that you can sleep, giving them up till morning when they will still be there?

Try to find ways to deal with sleep deprivation without resorting to pills!

DECLARATION FOR ALL OF US! : Safe/Safer Sex

"I practice Safe/Safer Sex.  If a person refuses to cooperate, then I don't have sex with them."

Since the days when John C. Holmes was diagnosed as HIV positive - and kept it a secret - there's been some advancement in treating HIV  (the virus that causes AIDS) and keeping it in control and from becoming AIDS, full blown and deadly.

Actor Charlie Sheen has recently come forward as HIV positive, there are plenty of drug cocktail options as well as experimental therapies in many other countries for those who have the wealth to option them as Charlie and many others have. It used to be thought of as a GAY DISEASE but that isn't true.  Since then we know HIV/AIDS can be transmitted through the transfer of blood through needles - especially shared illegal drug use, contamination - blood transfusion and unclean hospital equipment, any form of sexual activity in which there is blood, including menstrual blood, and that the virus has been detected in other bodily fluids such as saliva and tears.  We know that babies can be born sick with it, transferred from their mothers.  We know that people give and get HIV by rape.  We know that people can get it the first time they have unprotected sex or if a rubber breaks.

What all this means is that you have to be careful and especially that you have to TALK ABOUT SAFE/SAFER SEX with a potential sexual partner BEFORE YOU EVER FIND YOURSELF having sex with them so that you're in agreement.

It doesn't matter what your sexual orientation is.

YOU - YOUR LIFE - and the PEOPLE YOU LOVE are all worth saying NO to SEX otherwise.

There are MANY web sites that deal with SAFE/SAFER SEX, HIV, and AIDS but let's look at the one that's officially the CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL for the UNITES STATES

DECLARATION FOR MISTRESSES - Domestic Violence

"If I'm involved in domestic violence, I will find help to stop accepting or perpetrating this behavior."

Domestic violence - physical or verbal, hurts a person's self esteem and often, if it is severe enough or goes on for a long time - makes it difficult for a person to leave.   Even snide remarks can wound.  Domestic violence effects people from all ethnicities, races, religions, and classes.  Being well off or rich doesn't mean you are safe from it.

While what we hear about most is men abusing women there are women who "fight back" or who do the abusing.  When children see their parents batter each other or when children see mom's boyfriend beating her, they are liable to do the same behavior to their own children and girlfriends.

Your home and those you live with should be a sanctuary.  Everyone gets upset or angry from time to and needs to express it, but not inappropriately.  Some people need to learn anger management.  Some need to go to rehab.  Some need to be removed from the home.

Self assess.  If you are a victim or a perpetrator, reach out for help to change.

DECLARATION FOR MISTRESSES - Cosmetics

"I will not apply cosmetics in public, especially not at a dining table, and I will not comment on cosmetic surgery in public either."

Seeing a woman putting on mascara while in slow moving traffic the other day made me think that she was a hazard on the road, never mind being distracted by cell phones.  Who needs extra coats of mascara that much?

Then I thought about those women who are at a dining table, be it a dinner party or in a restaurant, who lift up a knife and use it as a mirror to check their lipstick, the women who put on lipstick just to leave cheap looking smears on it on wine glasses and coffee mugs and cigarette butts, and those women who pull out a compact to check their makeup who seem so self absorbed when they do that.

So instead, go to the ladies room to blot your lipstick (even if it claims to be one of those that lasts 8, 12, 24 hours) before you dine and return there to reapply before you leave, if you feel the need.  Wear natural colors that smooth and moisturize your lips rather than dramatically color them.  Do a good job of putting on your cosmetics before you leave the house, and that means for day wear or casual wear not overdoing it.

Finally, never comment on someone's cosmetic surgery in public, even if you mean to compliment them.  That is to call attention to them and their surgery when they may not feel like talking about it.  After all, some of them really think they can fool you into thinking those dramatic results came from a week at a spa or the latest expensive cream.

DECLARATION FOR MISTRESSES - Speaking Your Truth In A Relationship

"Am I a mistress or am I just having an affair?  I ask myself which is it, and most of all, I know what I want, and when the time is right, I will speak of what that is - to him."
