MONICA LEWINSKY and AMERICAN CRIME STORY : SHE SAYS SHE'S GOING to NEED MORE THERAPY

DAILY MAIL MONICA LEWINSKY and AMERICAN CRIME STORY

Monica has earned a place here at MISTRESS MANIFESTO BLOGSOT and was an Honorary Mistress of the Month in March 2012 with the first post entitled Get Off The Back Of MONICA LEWINSKY Why Not Blame President Bill Clinton?

I love the American Crime Story television series, and it was inevitable that they would get around to Monica. Although I doubt that she had any desire to be thrust into the public discussion when she had her rendezvous with the President, she has done her best to get over the scandal and move ahead.

If you use the search feature embedded in this Google Blogger, you can bring up various posts through time on Monica!

THE ROLE OF A LADY IN WAITING

WHAT DOES A  "LADY IN WAITING" ACTUALLY DO?

The answer may be "everything." Sometimes called a "maid" I can't promise you if you get a job/role being a Lady In Waiting you won't do some house work, but a Personal Assistant is more like it. Except the at the women who do this work don't get paid.  They are usually from rich families or in rich marriages and of the nobility themselves and don't "need" to work for pay. It's an honor and a tradition. So is paying what's called "room and board" or for travel expenses. Usually a Queen or a Princess (at least the ones who are working) has several. Some of these women travel with the Woman of higher rank or perform certain functions such as attending to public duties while others might be on what's called "a two week rotation" followed by four weeks off, so it's part-time, yet not too flexible. Sure there are perks. Seeing close up the work of the Queen or traveling the world with a Princess can mean seeing history in the making or watching a marriage fall apart.

According to an article in Women and Home, entitled "Who is the Queen's Trusted Lady-In-Waiting And What Exactly Does She Do?" by Laura Harmon, published in April of this year, the Queen, Elizabeth II, has had a trusted Lady-In-Waiting by her side for decades and this woman even attended the funeral of Prince Phillip, the Queen's husband, with the Queen. (We all know how restricted the attendance was for that event.) Her name is Lady Susan Hussey, a Baroness, who first came into the Queen's employ about the time Prince Andrew was born and the Queen needed someone to do the secretarial duty of making out Thank You notes. Lady Susan was made a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in 2013 and this is the highest rank personally granted by the sovereign. Just as our Mistress of the Month, Lady Elizabeth Georgiana Alice Cavendish was, for her work for Princess Margaret.

According to Cheatsheet.com, an article called "The Surprising Duties of Royal Family Ladies in Waiting", by Milla Henson, published in May of this year, The Mistress of Robes takes care of the Queens wardrobe - including what tiara she might wear, while the Mistress of the Bedchamber is the Queens Best friend, because she helps her dress, undress, bathe, and get ready for bed. Since the women who work at Waiting are considered friends and worthy of trust, they never retire.

How many of you would like to try this line of work?

JEFF - A READER - LEFT A COMMENT I CAN'T PUBLISH and HAS A GOOD QUESTION

A while back I received a message from someone named Jeff on comments and it was complimentary but I cannot publish it because doing so would expose an e-mail address to the world.  This I will never do, even if the person who sent the comment does not mention that the comment is to be kept private. I never e-mail because I've had mine hacked and cannot prove that the one being given to me really belongs to the person who provided it.  Jeff was thinking maybe I had a feed such as Atom.  He also has a slow computer.

I've been blogging MISTRESS MANIFESTO BLOGSPOT for some time and believe I have updated the HTML codes and privacy settings to reflect the latest technology from Google, which in the spring discontinued Google Plus and some other features. I believe the best way to get back to this site, if you have your own computer is to BOOKMARK it. I've bookmarked sites on my cell phone as well as my computer. Additionally, unless you clear a computer for privacy reasons, it will hold your searches in HISTORY.

I also enabled some time ago an OK for short portions of posts.  I actually don't like what's happening with that.  On some search engines I see six short excerpts that some computer program chose that are hardly illustrative of the intent or content of this blog and I imagine do not compel anyone to read it.  I may be switching that off to see what happens.

Thank You for your comment Jeff and Than You to all of you for reading Mistress Manifesto BlogSpot.

Happy Summer!

SNOWDEN FILM by OLIVER STONE : MISTRESS MANIFESTO FILM REVIEW

I think PRIVACY is a major issue for all of us, but perhaps especially for Mistresses, those women (and sometimes men who I call Mantresses) who have relationships ongoing with men who they are not married to, who are often married legally to someone else.  (I note that you don't have to be committing adultery to be Kept or to be Kept.)  At the beginning of this month, I elected the "girlfriend" of Edward Snowden, Lindsay Mills, as an honorary mistress of the month.  I think that Lindsay's relationship with Edward has a lot of mistress characteristics, in particular that he has provided financial support, adventure, and she has made living with him in numerous locations around the world - now reportedly Russia, over her own dancer career.  She has provided support to Edward emotionally, and other unsaid benefits to having a girlfriend.  But there is no adultery apparent in their relationship.  Not only are they not married to others, they are not married to each other.  So I promised you I would write a review after I got my copy.

Last night I saw the film SNOWDEN by Oliver Stone for the first time. I was disappointed that the story cut off before the "stuck in the Russian International Terminal" episode because by ending before this the references to assistance by Julian Assange/WikiLeaks/Sarah Harrison is omitted, and so much else.  Because Stone says their relationship is extremely important to the film, I frankly expected to see more of it. the film shows their first in person meeting after connecting through a web site called GeekMate in Washington DC, and makes certain that we know they have both been surrounded by family members and friends who work for the U.S. Government. However there is a dramatic scene of a loud argument between them in which Edward is the workaholic and financial support and responsible one who says she lives in a "fairytale."

In another scene, Edward suggests she go home to her parents. Which she does.

However, the bonus interview was a bit more interesting.  Edward Snowden says the argument scene makes him look like the world's worst boyfriend.  He also compliments Lindsay exceedingly for forgiving him, understanding him, and continuing to be supportive of him by not quitting their relationship and being there in Russia for him.  I would have loved it if Lindsay had also been interviewed live from Russia.  I just don't know that the actress Shailene Woodley "became" Lindsay Mills or not.  There are many photos of Lindsay on the Internet and on YouTube, many she owns or originally posted.  But I have no sense of her personality really.

I completely agree with the statements Edward Snowden makes about the VALUE OF PRIVACY and the difference between what you CHOOSE to put on the Internet and someone else does.  He says our lack of privacy due to the Internet in general, e-mail, cell phones, and much else recording us has caused us to LOOSE THE ABILITY TO MAKE MISTAKES.

I the last few days, I attended a meeting where a photographer showed up and the person leading the meeting gave casual permission, jokingly to photo us.  I went with it but later worried about how I might appear and that the photo might be used out of context with the purpose for the meeting.  Yesterday as I talked to my neighbor as he watered his lawn, another neighbor who is a wedding photographer decided to practice his drone photography by hovering over us.  Of course, without our permission.  My neighbor mentioned using drones for photography was now popular for wedding photographers.  I must be getting more old fashioned by the moment.  I dislike photographers inside wedding ceremonies and think the wedding party should go take photos elsewhere, such as a studio, like they used to.  When someone brags to me about photographing or videoing the birth of their child I think "is nothing sacred?"

So, I thought Oliver Stone did a good job of presenting to us a likeable and believable Edward Snowden, a Patriot, and a Whistleblower, which is opposite that Edward Snowden portrayed by Edward Epstein in his book which I talked about earlier this month.  The film is very popular.  I was on a wait list of several hundred people with over 50 copies making the rounds.

A WORD ABOUT ASHLEY MADISON and other DATING WEB SITES : MISTRESS MANIFESTO IS NOT AFFILIATED

REPOSTED  JANUARY 2015  (AFTER THE SCANDAL)

News is that the Ashley Madison site has been hacked.

ORIGINAL POST:
MISTRESS MANIFESTO IS NOT AFFILIATED with the ASHLEY MADISON web site or any other web site that offers to match-make people for sex, love, marriage or mistressing, that provide social connections or dating.

We are aware that the ASHLEY MADISON site is coming up in searches for MISTRESS MANIFESTO, however we cannot give you any recommendations or referrals to it or any other site.  We can't make any recommendations or referrals because we haven't tried the site(s) ourselves.

We are concerned because of rumors that certain sites that provide match making services are fronts for prostitution or other illegal activities.  We ask you to be cautious.

As with any Internet match-making, social connection, or dating site, always be careful of your safety and privacy!  Be sure you and any other person you meet on a match-making, social connection, or dating web site are on the same page when it comes to what you want in a relationship.  You should meet a stranger (and that's what a person is until you get to know them over time) in a public place, say for coffee or lunch, the first time you meet them.  You should not invite a person to your place or go to their place until you know you can trust them.  When you meet people in the world you are sometimes connected to them by mutual acquaintances - your  host at a party for example.  This is most often NOT the case when you meet someone on line.

Also, as someone who has had the (bad) experience of discovering that some man who is at best a new friend (or at worst on the sidelines of my life) has been having a fantasy relationship with me, be careful that you don't indulge in fantasy relationships with people, local or long distance; being out and about in your world is the best way to meet people in general.

Men, if you want a woman to be in your life as a romantic partner, the first step is to ask her out on a date.  If she says yes, and you have a good time and both feel a spark, this may lead to other dates in which you can get to know each other and eventually make some sort of commitment.

Relationships take time because trust takes time.

DECLARATION FOR MISTRESSES - Secrets

"I know how to keep a secret!"

There are secrets you shouldn't keep. If someone is in danger for their life or sanity, maybe because they are being abused, that's a sick secret. The Penn State molestation revelations are an example of many people keeping sick secrets that allowed the molestations to go on, all in the name of school reputation and the pursuit of football.

However, in life there are many secrets that you keep simply out of loyalty to a friend who has confided in you and secrets you keep out of loyalty to yourself.

These days most people don't have much privacy or respect privacy like they did even 20 years ago. It's almost as if the common person has come to not know or realize that they do have and should have a private life. Strangers, or people who are not close friends seem to think that they can ask you anything and are entitled to answers.

Not everyone wants to live as if their every move was being recorded on videotape or like on a Reality TV show.

Additionally, we have forgotten to keep our own council. If your relationship must remain private and you are not up to keeping it private, this is not a relationship for you. Remember that it is not your place as a mistress to "out" your man. It is up to him to tell his wife, if and when he thinks it best. Some wives may give a phone call to let you know where they stand, but don't you call them. SIMPLY, it is NOT YOUR PLACE!

MISSY ASKS : DO PEOPLE THINK HAVE NO BOYFRIEND because YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP?

Privacy - being discreet - is usually necessary in order to keep your relationship when you are a mistress - at least for a while - until you and he are ready - for marriage or to break up and move on and then some. Mistresses should be the last to out themselves.

So many of us simply do not mention that we are in a relationship when we meet someone new. Maybe our neighbors see us come and go. Maybe we have a place to rendezvous that is not his or hers.

How about you?

Do people assume you have no relationship because you don't talk yours?

DON'T BE TACKY TACKY TACKY ! :OPINION BY MISSY

Dear Left Hand Queens!

Tiger Woods may have been caught on the public stage as a cheater. But if you are involved with someone who is married to someone else - still - and you love this person and you want to keep them in your life, then DON'T GO PUBLIC!

TRULY, your relationship is a private matter!

It always was and it always should be.
First of all, jealous women don't make good mistresses and only a jealous woman would use a spectacle to hurt a man's wife (and children) publicly. There is nothing to gain and usually much to loose by being mean. Your man may be torn as is, or he may know in his heart that he will never marry you or divorce her but he is probably not prepared for a scene, be that in front of television news cameras or at the masked ball.

It's a small world, and there is simply no grace in being showy to start a battle with his wife (who you think of as his Other Woman) or prove you have won!
