Virginia's father worked for Mar-a-Lago and got her an interview and introduced her to Donald Trump himself. Trump asked her if she babysat and got her some work with nearby residents who had children. Her day job at the luxe resort was at the spa where professional massage therapists worked. Though she was not in the massage therapy rooms to witness, this lead to her interest in becoming a massage therapist herself. As she wrote on page 62, "For the first time in my life, I allowed a flicker of hope to build inside me."

Maxwell convinced Virginia that she should come meet a wealthy man - a math genius -a man who she says likes to "help people" and who lives a couple miles away - that very night. Virginia said she had to get her father's permission first and in the end, her father drove her over for the interview, with Ghislaine assuring her father that they would get Jenna, as Virginia was then called, home safe. (!) The interview, which turned out to be a demonstration by Ghislaine on how to massage Jeffrey, included him questioning her about her sexual experience and ended with unexpected sexual encounter in which both Ghislaine and Jeffrey Epstein were sexual with Virginia. She complied.

I blamed myself. "Is sex all anyone will ever want from me?" a voice inside me shrieked, as another harsher voice chided: "Yes, you idiot. You knew that already." I tasted the tang of adrenaline in my mouth, and I could feel my brain begin to shut down. My body couldn't escape from this room, but my mind couldn't bear to stay, so it put me on a kind of autopilot" submissive and determined to survive.

Unsure what to say, I admitted I was worn out from pulling double shifts each day - the first at the spa - the second at El Brillo Way. Epstein nodded. He wanted to make things easier on me, he said. But he had a few conditions. As his employee, I would be at his beck and call, day and night. No exceptions. When he said, "Jump" my response would have to be, "How high?"

Virginia would quit her spa job and high school to work for Epstein. He gave her money, cash, after she had given service. He also let her know that he had a photo of her younger brother and where he went to school. The threat was that if she told anyone what went on - if she went to the authorities or betrayed Jeffrey, her younger brother would be hurt.
