"More than 200 actors were considered for the role of early TV's Superman show, which began filming in 1951. George was ambivilant about the role and took it thinking it would be short term. It was his worst nightmare that he became so known as Superman that he would never be in another movie. His role in 1953's "From Here to Eternity" was cut out.
