HOW TO PICK AND CHOOSE A MAN (IF YOU MUST)! :OPINION BY MISSY

QUESTION FOR MISSY

Dear Missy,

I'm 25 and working as a model.  I have aspirations to be in film.  I live a bi-coastal life.  I make enough money to afford an apartment in New York (with a room mate) and another in Los Angeles (without a room mate).  I travel to model, mostly in the United States.

In New York I have a Sugar Daddy who has been wonderful to me for the last five years. I care for him deeply.  He is unmarried, but he is much older than me.

However, there is another man in Los Angeles who is probably more appropriate for me.  I mean he's closer to my age and we have more in common and are very very attracted to each other.  He's in film. He's married and has made it clear to me that he has no plans to leave his wife and two young children. I'm not in either city that much.  I don't want to marry anyone right now.

What do you think about me having two Sugar Daddy's, one in each coast?

Kelly from Chicago

ANSWER FROM MISSY

Dear Kelly from Chicago,

You mean keep them both?
Certainly men have kept more than one woman in their lives at a time.

Consider.  First, how good are you at keeping two relationships that have limits going?  You might try it and find yourself unfocused and confused or loose them both.  You might be very good at it since as is you are in and out of town and able to be independent.  It's not for everyone.

Second, what does each man expect of you when it comes to spending time together and your availability? How often is Sugar Daddy in New York used to seeing you?

A Sugar Daddy may be in love with you, or be the Sugar Daddy to a number of models.

If there is little to no time to spend, then you may not actually be developing a relationship with the person.  Your New York Sugar Daddy may be very sure of you in his life and may not be as philosophical about you being young and ambitious and on the verge of leaving him.  Are you afraid to break his heart? To loose the benefits he gives you?  I bet you don't want to hurt him, when he has been so kind and generous to you.

Models and actresses meet more men than most women and can often have their pick. So don't feel like you have to pick right now, or settle.  Check in with your feelings. Admit what you want to yourself. Are you trying to have everything (and everyone) your way? Are you ready to say goodbye to Sugar Daddy in New York for good?  And if you do, and the relationship with Mr. Film in Los Angeles ends, then what?

I think you will be meeting more men who are attractive and more men who are willing to mentor you or be your patron and help you move towards greater success.  You can't get lazy about it though.  You still have to show up for auditions and assignments and, if you get movie roles, you'll have to be gone for days or weeks at a time on set.  You can't put your career on hold and be totally available to any man at this point and that is probably very attractive to them.  At the same time you probably haven't spent as much time with Mr. Film in Los Angeles and are guessing at the potential of the relationship.

Like you I'm speculating.

At the heart of my advice is, always be truthful with yourself, in touch with what you're feeling and thinking.

DECLARATION FOR MISTRESSES - Being Fair To Oneself

"I won't easily give up my own career to make a man my career - that just wouldn't be fair to me!"

She meets him and he can Provide, but now he wants her to Travel with him, and he Hopes that won't be a Problem since she can always take a semester off, leave her boring job behind, or otherwise be Available.

Why not?  Life with him - married or not - is bound to provide distractions, entertainments, and advantages she can't provide for herself.

These days, with so very many more opportunities for self support open to women in the Western World, there are very few traditional stay at home wives or mistresses!

While you may have to be Flexible and Reinvent Yourself to Keep this Relationship, don't give up what you've got going for yourself on a whim, just because you are Hot and In Love.

Being Feminine never meant being Foolish!

GEORGE REEVES

According to "Hollywood Kryptonite," as Superman, George Reeves was a role model to kids, a Do-Gooder, and being involved in a long term (ten year) affair with Toni Mannix was dangerous for his reputation, even though his relationship with her was an "open secret" in Hollywood. The couple were involved in charity work together and frequently entertained in the home Toni helped George buy.

DID TONI MANNIX OR HER HUSBAND OR SOMEONE ELSE HAVE GEORGE REEVES MURDERED?

Toni Mannix and George Reeves were lovers for near a decade and had the blessing of her husband, but according to the book "Hollywood Kryptonite" for about the last 6 months of his life, during his engagement to Lenore, someone killed his dog and he received 20-30 harassing phone calls day and night - to annoy and disturb him.  Did Toni (or her husband) have him killed?

IMBD ON GEORGE REEVES : HE WAS ACTIVE AS AN ACTOR LONG BEFORE HE MET MRS. MANNIX

IMBd on GEORGE REEVES link to his acting resume.  George tried to move his career to directing after so much frustration playing Superman!

From "Hollywood Kryptonite,: by  Sam Kushner and Nancy Schoenberger C 1996
page 20

"More than 200 actors were considered for the role of early TV's Superman show, which began filming in 1951.  George was ambivilant about the role and took it thinking it would be short term.  It was his worst nightmare that he became so known as Superman that he would never be in another movie.  His role in 1953's "From Here to Eternity" was cut out.

GEORGE REEVES : SUPERMAN AND KEPT MAN : SO WHAT? HIS LADY'S HUSBAND HAD A MISTRESS TOO!

(Hey, he looks even better with Clark Kent glasses on!)

Before my time, but the SUPERMAN television show had quite the following in it's time which was the 1950's. GEORGE REEVES (born George Brewer - Bessolo), the actor who played Superman, which was also a comic book series and which has inspired more than one movie about the good deeds of the Super Hero! including a new movie that will be out any day, ended up either a suicide or a murder.

A movie called HOLLYWOODLAND, was all about him and the lady, Camille "Toni" Lanier Mannix who kept him.  Toni was the wife of a movie studio mogul who also kept a mistress.

Like many female mistresses who did (and do) work for a living, George may've been into it in part because Toni Mannix could make life better for him.  The wife of Eddie Mannix, Toni was an ex Broadway actor who came to Hollywood to be in a movie.  Instead she got a husband who retired her.  He provided well.  She was aware that her husband kept a mistress, a beautiful Japanese woman,  and they had a deal, or so it seems, because his money was also hers.  She gave George the down payment for a house in the canyon, a nice car, good interior design and furnishings... a better life.

Toni was an older woman to George.  And according to the movie she helped him get the role of Superman.  The book "Hollywood Krptonite, which I'll be quoting from, suggests otherwise.  Over 200 actors tried for the role.  George thought it would be a temporary gig but soon enough he was sick and tired of what Superman had done to his career as well as older dominating women, such as his mother (and Toni?).  George had the nerve to get himself engaged to another woman.

He was shot and killed soon before he was to marry Lenore.  In his will he left everything to Toni and nothing to his fiancee.

But who pulled the trigger?

Who doesn't love a mystery?
