DOES HE SLOW TO YOUR PACE WHEN YOU'RE WALKING?

HEALTHLAND - TIME : MEN WALK SLOWER WHEN IN LOVE  FULL ARTICLE LINK

... "What scientists say is unclear is what happens when a man and a woman walk together. If someone has to change their speed to align with the other, who will do it? It turns out, it’s consistently the men.

To study this, the researchers from Seattle Pacific University in Washington studied the walking speed choices of eleven men and eleven women as they walked around a track alone, with friends of the same and opposite sex, and with a significant other holding hands or hands-free.

In their study, released Wednesday, they found that when walking with women, men significantly slow their pace to their companions’, but only if the woman is their romantic partner. Walking with friends, whether it be friends of the same or opposite sex, did not significantly change pace for anyone, and women only slightly changed their pace when walking with their partner. The authors say this suggests that adjusting stride only happens for romantic partners..."

SHOULD SHE GET HER NOSE FIXED TO PLEASE HIM? : OPINION BY MISSY

QUESTION FOR MISSY

Hi Missy.  I'm in Texas.  I've been a mistress for a couple years and you guessed it, he has oil money.  I'll call him Jared.  Jared thinks I'm sexy and that I have a fantastic body.  He compliments me on my hair, my smile, and the way I dress.  He isn't married, he's divorced, and so he has introduced me to many of his friends and their wives and I don't get the feeling we're sneaking around.  I guess I fit the mistress type because I don't work and he supports me.  This way I'm free to go anywhere with him as he pleases.

A few months ago Jared suggested that he have my nose fixed as a birthday present to me.  I thought he was joking and brushed the idea off.  Now he wants me to have my nose fixed as a Christmas present.  I'm comfortable with my looks.  My nose is a little big but kind of cute.  Well, that's what most people tell me.  My mom thinks his request is outrageous.  Any advice?

Roxy

ANSWER FOM MISSY

I'm against it, Roxy, for a few reasons.  Mostly I've been thinking a lot about what Scott Thorson went through with Liberace (I gave Scott a month recently and you can read those posts on this blog.  Use the Google search feature to pull them up.)  I think maybe if you have your nose done Jared will next come up with something else about you he wants to redesign.  If he thinks you're sexy, have a fantastic body, loves your hair and  your smile - that is a lot that pleases him - so why pick on your nose?

Is he a bit controlling?

The other reason I'm against it is that I heard of someone's mistress who did get her nose fixed and her man hated the new nose and before it was all over ...  She stopped before she looked like Michael Jackson but in the end the nose she hated was all she got.  This persnickety man found other reasons to find fault with her and dumped her!  Now every time she looks in the mirror she thinks of what she did for him and hates herself and the way she looks.

I wonder if there is any cosmetic surgery you do want to have?  If so I would suggest to Jared that you want this other surgery.  Otherwise, I think you should tell him you want to end the discussion on this topic.

CLAUDIA GOLD ON EHRENGUARD MELUSINE VON DER SCHULENBURG

HUFFINGTON POST ARTICLE by CLAUDIA GOLD, AUTHOR of THE KING'S MISTRESS link to full article.

EXCERPT: "Melusine***, Duchess of Kendal and mistress of George I was a woman at the apex of British politics and court life. With George, she successfully presided over the transition from Stuart (Scottish) to Hanoverian (German) monarchy in Britain. She intrigued, she took bribes, she practiced diplomacy, she was courted by the glitterati and she involved the country in breathtaking scandal. Most importantly, very little, if anything, was done by the king's ministers without her say so. Robert Walpole, Britain's charismatic first Prime Minister, said that she was, "As much Queen of England as any ever was." But for a mistress, Melusine was unusual; she was not particularly decorative. ...Her detractors, mostly the Tories and the Jacobite press, were vicious, accusing her of meddling, of avarice, and of sexual depravity; she is the most vilified mistress in British history because, her foreign birth aside, few could understand the king's attraction to her. But George thought of Melusine as his wife, whether or not they married in secret, and she fulfilled all the functions of a queen consort and held enormous sway. She was clever and witty, amusing George for hours with paper cut outs of the new English ministers he deplored, and the pair were devoted to one another. Through her lover, Melusine held power until his death in 1727. No English mistress or queen consort would ever be as powerful again."

MAYPOLEING

Maypoleing actually takes place in May as a sort of folk or pagan fertility rite.

The pole is symbolic in the way that Sigmund Freud would explain.

Villagers dance around the maypole, which as you can see is a tall pole which had ribbons or long strips of cloth hanging about it.  As they dance they weave the ribbon together.

KING GEORGE I and HIS TWO MISTRESSES : THE ELEPHANT and THE CASTLE! OR WAS THAT THE MAYPOLE and HIS HALF SISTER ?

KING GEORGE THE FIRST OF ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND (1660-1727) was a "Hanoverian King."  Hanoverian as from Hanover Germany. * (When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently named their first newborn George, they took some flack.  Apparently none of the King George's were that well regarded, but the Duke and Duchess Cambridge said they just liked the name.)

When England's Queen Anne, who bore 17 children, died without any children alive to take her throne, England went looking for a relative who would promote the Protestant succession.  George I came from Germany to England to be crowned King of England and Scotland in 1714.  He had been married to his first cousin Sophia, Princess of Celle, and it was not a happy marriage.  She had a fling, her lover was disappeared, and she remained imprisoned in a castle until she died in 1726!  Maybe the fact that George had two mistresses pushed her into an affair of her own?

Instead of his wife playing Queen, one of George's mistresses did.

George I arrived in England from Germany barely able to speak English and he never enjoyed popularity among the people.  He had been invited by the Whigs (a political party) and he pretty much let them do as they wished, as long as they kept him informed. His two mistresses that he brought with him kept company with him until he died.

The two women were subject to nicknames, not just because they were also not well liked, as they were considered greedy and dull and weird, but because the two of them had drastically different looks.

Reading around the subject, you should know that the portly one, nicknamed The Elephant (surely behind her back!), Charlotte Sophia von Kielmansegg, was actually George's illegitimate half sister, sharing Ernest Augustus, Elector of Hanover as a father.  There are those who say that theirs was never a sexual relationship and there are those who say the British court did so know!

  MELUSINE
(By today's standards she is certainly not a skinny woman!)

More assuredly a mistress to the King George I, was  Ehrengard Melusine von der Schulenburg,  who got called the “The Maypole” because she was so tall and thin and thought to be ugly.  She was also called "The Castle," as in "the King is in the Castle."  She served as an unofficial Queen.  She is said to have kept the King amused with her hobby of cutting out paper into images of their friends - and enemies.  Guess you had to be there.

Since the two lovers could not marry, they had three children together who were illegitimate, but these children, daughters, all got titles.  They were Anna Luise Sophie von der Schulenburg Countess of Dölitz,  born in 1692, Melusina von der Schulenburg Countess of Walsingham, born 1693, and Margaret Gertrude von der Schulenburg, Countess of Oeynhausen, born 1701.

After George's death Melusine kept a pet raven which she believed was his soul, reincarnated.  (There's a lot of lore about birds and souls in central and eastern Europe.)

All which goes to show you, that you need not be beautiful, in shape, have a sparkling personality, or much else going on, and you can still be a mistress!  You just have to meet the "right one!"

*(As you may know the present husband of Princess Caroline (Monaco), Ernst August, is of the Hanoverian line and if history were different could be on the throne of England). If you're interested in reading about THE MISTRESSES OF THE PRINCES OF MONACO go to the January 2015 posts in the MISTRESS MANIFESTO archive!)
